What to Do When God Is Silent (And You Still Have to Choose)
God is in control. But He gave you the power to obey — or disobey. That’s how He tests His people.
We are not puppets.
We are free moral agents, given the power to choose between obedience and rebellion. That’s the way God set it up from the beginning (Deuteronomy 30:19).
He doesn’t force your decisions. He shows you the way — and leaves the choice to you.
So what do you do when God doesn’t speak, when you don’t “hear His voice”?
You do what He already commanded.
“The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all.”
—Psalm 103:19
God is sovereign. He governs the universe. But He doesn’t override your responsibility to obey His laws. When He seems silent, it’s not because He abandoned you. It’s because He’s watching what you’ll do.
He wants to know if you’ll follow Him — without a push.
That’s why He gave us His Word. His commandments. His statutes. His judgments.
You don’t need to “hear God” to know His will. You need to open your Bible and obey it. That’s how you walk by faith.
Repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38)
Keep the Sabbath and Holy Days (Leviticus 23)
Come out of this world’s system (Revelation 18:4)
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33)
What is that Kingdom?
It’s not a vague feeling or invisible church. It’s a literal government that Christ will establish over all nations at His return (Daniel 2:44). That’s the gospel He preached (Mark 1:14–15).
The Kingdom of God is not here yet. Christ is not ruling over the governments of this world. Satan is still the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4). But those God is calling now are being trained to rule under Christ in that coming government (Revelation 5:10).
You are being tested. And silence is part of the test.
So when God doesn’t speak:
Obey what He already said
Live like a citizen of His coming Kingdom
Prepare to rule with Christ in the world tomorrow
God’s Kingdom is coming — and fast. The question isn’t whether He’s speaking. The question is whether you’re listening — and obeying.
